Lauriel Marques,

NTF Instructor

Lauriel is a third-generation gymnast/acrobat. The granddaughter of professional hand-balancer, Dowers Professor of Balance—who amazed audiences with his one-finger handstand—and his son, Lauriel grew up with a love of acrobatics and learned much from both. She emulates their athletic drive, discipline, and balance of mind and body. . . and does her best to instill these attributes in her students. Lauriel competed in gymnastics and performed in many theatrical productions throughout childhood, high school, and college. Incorporating her gymnastics and dance, Lauriel competed on the University of Illinois Club Team, going to Nationals and placing on the beam and floor exercise.
Her professional dance experience includes television appearances on shows such as Daytime and The Wayne Brady Show, and she was a regular on the Chicago-based TV show U-Dance. She has also performed with the All-Stars National Dance Team in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and was a featured dancer in the Touchstone movie Just Visiting. A fitness instructor and personal trainer, Lauriel's passion for encouraging and inspiring health has kept her working in the fitness industry since 1996. In 2001 she began working in aerial arts, and has been flying ever since! She has also worked as a professional aerialist for Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, as well as working as a freelance artist and aerial arts instructor. Lauriel has enjoyed working on silks, hammock, lyra, Spanish web, cloud swing, trapeze, and repel lines. Happiest when she is upside-down, Lauriel is thrilled to now bring her passion and experience to Antigravity.
