Aerial Technique
Beginning Aerial Silk:
Class Description: This beginner-‐level class teaches basic aerial dance technique, which serves as a general foundation for all aerial arts. Students perform skills on the silk fabric apparatus, which involve climbing techniques, basic poses and other skills that will improve strength & muscle tone, balance, flexibility, and grace. As students become stronger, they will advance to more difficult skills involving inversions, foot/hand locks, hip keys, skill combinations/transitions, and basic drops. Level: Beginner level class; suitable for students with little/no experience and also intermediate-‐level students. No pre-‐requisite required to enroll/attend class.
Multi-‐Level Aerial Silk:
Class Description: This class will improve aerial technique and performance quality, building on skills learned in Introduction To Aerial Arts (workshop) & Beginning Silk. Students will continue to gain strength through conditioning exercises performed during class, while learning more Intermediate & Advanced level skills from professional aerialists! Students will learn more difficult poses & drops, exciting skill combinations, and creative choreography! Level: Multi-‐level class; suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced level students.
Mixed Apparatus:
Class Description: This multi-‐level class allows students to experience several specialty aerial apparatus that are not normally used in group classes, such as Spanish Web, Cloud Swing, Aerial Net, Hand Loop Choreography, Straps, Harness Work, Aerial Cube, Bungee, and Trapeze. Half the class time will be spent learning new skills on one or more chosen specialty apparatus, then the second half will be used as a sort of "directed practice." Standard apparatus (including Silk, Hammock & Aerial Hoop) will also be available, allowing students to work on existing skill sets. This class is a great way for aerialists to challenge themselves & expand one's horizons through new aerial techniques! Level: Multi-‐Level; all levels welcome. (Some specialty apparatus may require some intermediate/advanced skills, however, students may work at their own speed/level.)
Children's Intro to Aerial Arts:
Class Description: This class is designed for new students ages 7 to 12 who wish to become acquainted with Aerial Arts. No prior aerial experience is necessary. 'Intro To Aerial Arts' will help students develop the fundamental skills used in aerial acrobatics, as well as strength and flexibility. Instructors will focus on safety, body awareness and correct technique as students experience a variety of aerial apparatuses including (but not limited to) Silk, Hammock, and Aerial Hoop. The class begins with a short warm-‐up, consisting of conditioning and flexibility exercises, and then moves into aerial skill instruction, in which basic skills, tricks & combinations are taught. Instructors give one-‐on-‐one help to students who need special modifications based on their level/limitations, or to students who wish to challenge themselves with slightly more advanced skills. 'Intro to Aerial Arts' is a great way to begin learning aerial technique, and also allowing young students to explore multiple aerial dance disciplines. Level: Beginner level class; suitable for students with little/no experience. No pre-‐requisite required to enroll/attend.
Aerial Duet & Choreography:
Class Description: Aerial duets can be performed in a variety of ways; whether two females spin in unison as an exciting "doubles act," or two males display their stregnth as an "aerial duo," or a couple performs a romantic "aerial adagio." This class allows advanced students to explore "duet choreography" in many new, creative forms. Students will learn to fly as partners, executing spin combinations, synchronized acrobatic skills, and duet strength moves called "porting." Students do not need to recruit a partner to attend class, as each person will be paired with several others during each class. Level: intermediate through advanced; Instructor permission required to attend class
Aerial Hoop/Lyra:
Class Description: In this class, students will be introduced to the spinning circular apparatus called a Lyra or Aerial Hoop. This versatile apparatus is exciting & challenging. First, students learn how to safely mount, dismount, hang & spin on this apparatus. Basic aerial skills are reinforced as students learn progressively more difficult skills & short combinations with focus on developing whole-‐body control, coordination & strength. More experienced students will focus on developing spin velocity, and other intermediate & advanced skills such as inversions, and complex transitions. Students will master tricks that are sure to impress audiences! Level: Beginner/Intermediate level class; no pre-‐requisite necessary but students are encouraged to enroll first in Introduction To Aerial Arts to build strength & technique.
Silk Hammock:
Class Description: This class introduces students to the silk hammock aerial apparatus, a longer, more versatile version of the apparatus used for Anti-‐Gravity Yoga fitness classes. It is similar in appearance to aerial silk, but requires less initial upper-‐body strength-‐ making it a great apparatus for beginners to start developing basic aerial technique, build core strength & endurance! This apparatus highlights the performer's flexibility and demands control using fluid transitions. Beginners will first learn to move gracefully in and out of the silk, developing confidence on the aerial apparatus. Students will learn progressively more difficult hammock poses & transitions structured around a short sequence of lyrical choreography. More experienced students may begin working on more advanced skills such as spins & inversions
*Aerial Cube:
Class Description: Aerial Cube, performed as a solo or group act, highlights the intricate shapes, angles and lines created by this spinning aerial apparatus. In this class, students use the cube structure to contort their bodies, creating graceful living sculptures in midair! Students will learn transition techniques and other skill combinations used to create performance choreography, while also building strength and stamina. Level: Beginner through Advanced levels, Pre-‐requisite and/or instructor permission required. (Private coaching or small group training is recommended for this apparatus due to limited availability.)
Aerial Ballet:
Class Description: In this class, students will learn to use a variety of aerial equipment to take dance to new heights! This class explores a combination of aerial dance skills & classical ballet technique, using aerial equipment such as silk, hoop & harness. Students will focus on graceful aerial combinations, fluid movement, and control with creative aerial choreography. Dancers will improve balance & flexibility, while also developing strength & coordination. Aerial Ballet is perfect for dancers wishing to transition into the "aerial world." Students will perform ballet choreography suspended in midair, an exciting alternative to traditional ballet class. Level: All levels welcome: beginner through advanced; suitable for students with little/no experience. No pre-‐requisite required to enroll/attend.
Spanish Web/Rope:
Class Description: In this class, students will learn to perform on a rope-‐like apparatus, called a "Web." Students will learn several climbing techniques, locks, knots and acrobatic poses on this apparatus in the stationary position. More experienced students will learn to spin while locked into wrist or ankle loops, creating exciting & dynamic shapes. Students will master speed and control, while transitioning through acrobatic skills with fluidity. "Web Setting," will also be taught during class. This refers to the act of spinning the rope while standing beneath the performer, using enough power to create Centrifugal Force, pushing the performer's body into dynamic spinning positions. This important skill enhances upper body strengthen, endurance and teaches students to act as a team. This specialty class provides an adrenaline rush that students of all levels crave! Level: All levels welcome: beginner through advanced. No pre-‐requisite required to enroll/attend.
Aerial Workshops
Introduction To Aerial Arts Workshop:
Program Description: This 6 week Workshop is highly recommended for new students with little, or no aerial experience, that want to learn the basics. This is a structured program organized like a course integrating aspects of aerial safety, technique, and fitness. Introduction To Aerial Arts is designed to introduce students to a variety of aerial apparatuses including (but not limited to) Aerial Silk (also known as Tissue or Chiffon), Aerial Hammock, and Lyra (also known as Aerial Hoop), and teaches the basic skills needed to perform aerial acrobatics. Each class begins with a short warm-‐up, consisting of conditioning & flexibility exercises, and then moves into aerial skill instruction, in which basic beginner & intermediate technique, tricks & combinations are taught. AntiGravity instructors will give one-‐on-‐one attention to students who need special modifications based on their level/limitations, or to students who wish to challenge themselves with slightly more advanced skills. "Intro. To Aerial Arts" is a great way to strengthen one's aerial technique, and also explore multiple aerial dance disciplines, which may help new students discover their favorite apparatus. Level: Beginner level class; suitable for students with little/no experience and also intermediate-‐level students. No pre-‐requisite required to enroll/attend class. Schedule: This workshop class meets twice a week for 6 weeks. This class is exclusive to students that have registered and paid for the workshop, and is not open to NTF students using "class passes." Private Lessons (also available as Small-‐Group Training):
Class Description: Students may enroll in Private Lessons for one-‐on-‐one instruction with Anti-‐ Gravity professional aerialists-‐ at any skill level! Private coaching is available for anyone who needs or would prefer individual, one-‐on-‐one attention, or whose needs are not met by the classes offered (For example, students may request a specialized piece of equipment that is not normally offered on our class schedule). Your private coach will tailor the lesson to your individual needs/desires at a pace that you are comfortable with. Most private lessons are an hour in length, and include a warm-‐up with stretching, instruction, and cool down. Private Coaching Packages may also be available for students, or for groups with less than 4 individuals. Contact us today for scheduling availability! Level: All levels from beginner through advanced (Instructors are trained to challenge or modify exercises for each individual based on any personal issues/limitations one may have).
Open Gym:
Class Description: Open gym gives students the freedom to choose which apparatuses they'd like to train on, and which skills they'd like to focus on individually. Instructors provide a safe environment for students to train in, and closely monitor the use of specialized equipment. Various aerial apparatuses, such as Silk, Aerial Hoop/Lyra, Hammock, Spanish Web & Cube, will be available during this time. Open gym serves as optimal time for aerialists to rehearse their own choreography or to work on skills learned in previous classes. *Permission from Administration is required to use certain equipment (such as Trampoline Wall, AG Boots, Chinese Poles, Bungee, etc.). Please call ahead for availability. Level: All levels, ages 16+
Boot Camp Extreme Fitness:
Class Description: Boot Camp Extreme Fitness is designed to challenge individuals using a variety of fitness techniques. The goal of this program is to help each participant accomplish their own personal goals through cardiovascular exercises, strength and conditioning, and other "cross-‐fit" type workouts. Whether your fitness goals include weight loss, increased muscle definition, or maintaining a healthy physique, Boot Camp can benefit you. The program will improve confidence and help individuals gain valuable fitness & nutritional knowledge, learn safe/correct form while working out, and enjoy the social aspect created by this "team" atmosphere. The program will improve one's overall sense of wellness, and will motivate students to make permanent healthy lifestyle changes. Level: This program is suitable for all levels. (Potential students are encouraged to call & schedule personal one-‐on-‐one appointment with trainer to discuss goals prior to enrollment.)
